A lot of people have told us that they are having problems getting around the hospital. After talking and working with many different community groups we have developed a NHS Help Card.

Work began on 'Scheme III' in July 1998 and it opened for business in November 2000. The whole scheme provided new maternity facilities, rehabilitation facilities and an Outpatient Department known as Chester Wing. It was officially opened in December 2000 by Her Majesty the Queen and was immediately hailed as a great addition to the Trust's facilities by patients and staff.
Chester Wing contains dedicated diabetic, urology, audiology, ENT, oral & maxillofacial, dermatology, chest and ECG units, as well as a general outpatient area that supports the service delivery of multi-disciplinary clinical needs. Chester Wing also has an outpatient pharmacy service and a WRVS-run snack shop facility.
City Hospitals monitors its waiting times for outpatient and inpatient appointments and reports on these at the bi-monthly Board of Directors meetings held in public. These meetings are open for anyone to attend. The Trust is currently maintaining the maximum waiting time of 13 weeks for new outpatient appointments following referral by a GP. This ahead of the Government's timetable and reflects the Trust's continued commitment to improving access to its services. Waiting times for all acute Trusts are published on the NHS.UK website ![]()
